Pure sugar cane juice100% vendome still, I was really curious here. Right from the start, the profile here is different from what we know from St. Lucia, we have herbs and olives, a little rubber taste, a few citrus notes and some vanilla. It's a special profile, which reminds me of some Fiji in its peculiarity. But it seems a little more complex to me. The framework is right here, but there is still room for improvement. Thanks to Alex Kunath for the sample, that was an eye-opener🥃
First of all, I have to say that this is a bottling from Chairman's that absolutely does not meet my taste. Somehow medicinal and chemical on the nose and palate. Something sour in the finish. Citrus fruits, but also a slight bitterness. Slight metallic notes are also present.
I really enjoy the SLD Master’s Selection rums. This is 100% vendome and nine years old. The nose is great, fairly light with butterscotch and eucalyptus that let’s through briney notes over time. Inviting and excited to jump in. On the mouth it’s a bit of a riot, well balanced, some glue with caramel and yucca, then a bit of an olive hit. Finish is more spice and a bit of a let down compared to the mouth. It’s one that doesn’t get better the more time you spend with it and didn’t quite grow on me, overall not as good as other Master’s Selection rums I have tried so won’t be getting a bottle
