Nobilis Diamond No. 34 (TAST'TOE) REV 2006
Most love its concentrated dark Demerara profile, wintery roasted wood and burnt sugar. Some find the alcohol and tannins a bit firm versus older REVs. Consensus: powerful, characterful and fairly priced.
Fans of heavy, dark Demerara rums who enjoy roasted coffee, burnt sugar, wood and licorice at higher ABV, and REV lovers seeking a modern, affordable alternative to the legendary 1994 vintages.

How does this rum taste?
Dark, roasted Demerara for winter nights
If you enjoy dense, roasted Demeraras like other Diamond/REV bottlings, this keeps that dark profile with good balance and price—just give it air and sip slowly.
Beginners, those sensitive to 57.4% ABV, or drinkers who dislike woody bitterness, roasted notes and a semi-dry, tannic finish without added sweetness.

I really love this 2006 REV - dark notes of wood, leather, tobacco, roasted coffee and dried fruits. Some (not unpleasant) bitterness in the background, balancing the overall profile. Salty caramel, dried herbs, drops of vinegar. This is a great daily drinker if you prefer heavy and dark spirits. The only downside is when I compare 2006 with its older brother and true monster REV 1994. Especially in a parallel tasting. Which is normal, due to aging differences and probably some other. But still remains a better bang for your hard earned buck. In my book, this is a back-up bottle worthy selection. 92/100
Second time trying REV, this one has all the dark notes of burn sugar, cocoa, coffee, liquorice. Interesting stuff.
Again a very good 2006 REV. It needs time in the glass and then develops its potential . He is more on the spicy and strong side . In the background are easily perceptible fruit and sweet notes. After the 1994 REV's my favorite vintage of this Marks.
An excellent modern-day Demerara rum. The nose is full-bodied, intense and rich in dark aromas of all kinds: from smoky wood to roasted notes (mocha, dark chocolate), from warm spices (licorice, anise, cinnamon) to roasted and malty notes, as well as burnt sugar, molasses and cola. The fruitiness is heavy on prune, accompanied by floral notes on a very fragrant black tea. It's a class act that envies nothing of last century's Enmore. The attack on the palate is exquisite, sticking to the palate with its fruity and floral flavors (aromatic herbs, dried fruit). The aromas are highly concentrated. The sweet, caramelized notes soften the palate against Demerara's darker notes (mocha, dark chocolate, wood, roasted notes and warm spices). The alcohol is very well integrated. The finish is long and warm, round but rather heavy and slightly tannic. A profile reminiscent of caramel and cola candy emerges, in contrast to the coffee, leather, spices, wood and roasted notes. A superb bottling from Nobilis that allows you to enjoy a lovely nectar on a rough winter's evening while staying warm.
