Bought two bottles of this rum two years ago. Hard to find this bottling today. I think it’s an OK rum from the Spanish school and much better than Zacapa from the same producer. The nose is fruity, woody, sweet and a little spicy with scents of dried fruit, oak, caramel and vanilla. At the palate it’s complex, balanced, sweet, fruity, woody and a little spicy with flavors of caramel, dried fruit, orange, oak and vanilla. The finish is medium long with the flavors from the palate persisting.
Enjoyed this one as it arrived yesterday and despite it being in the cheap end of the spectrum it wa a nice surprise. A nice solera from 5-18 years in the blend. A bit sweet but not too sweet. Leave it in the glass to rest to get the entire experience. Comes off a little bit dry but nicely balanced with the sweet. For the price tag a pretty good rum.
