How does this rum taste?
- Sehr komplexer Rum
Barikenn’s "Antilles Françaises" (2017, 57.5%) is a cask strength Martinique Agricole, drawing in RumX members with fruity, woody, and caramel notes. There’s plenty of dried and tropical fruit upfront, with a solid backbone of oak and tobacco, and hints of chocolate. Some noted a balanced interplay of fruit, cask, and agricole character; @Galli33 found it "sehr komplex" with a finish where "Agricole/Zuckerrohr Noten" shine. Others pick up on toffee and spice, while a few mention a drier, woodier side in the finish—"dominée par le boisé" (@Eric Frechin).

"Secret distillery my ass this is clearly J. Bally. Smashingly good rum btw and the price is a steal for a brut de fut Agricole of this quality. Only 111 bottles made so scoop it up if you see it."
"A brut de fût martiniquais in all its splendour, fruity (tropical fruits and citrus), gourmand (toffee, caramel, chocolate) and with a beautiful character (wood, tobacco, shoe polish and spices). I can't find a fault with it"
