How does this rum taste?
- Rich, spicy flavor profile
- Unique low ester Long Pond
- Complex aromas develop over time
The 2007 Long Pond rum from Jamaica is an intricately crafted spirit, aged 15 years and 6 months, and bottled at a cask strength of 66.6% ABV. This limited edition, comprising just 247 bottles, showcases a complex profile with notes of vanilla, spices, and tropical fruits on the nose. Its flavor profile is similarly complex, featuring dominant spicy tones and underlying hints of barrel, caramel, and vanilla, leading to a harmonious finish. The high alcohol content is prominent and benefits from a slight dilution to reveal its full aromas and tropical nuances. "Very spicy LP . Dark fruits, honey, caramel, papaya and peach ...slightly peppery . Tastes and smells very tropical. I personally do not find the alcohol in any way disturbing. Rum approx. 30min in the glass when tasting."
"The nose starts with bourbon vanilla, fruits and a restrained long pond profile. Tropical overripe fruit, red berries and a hint of wood polish. The alcohol is very present and stings on the nose. Very balanced overall. On the palate, first sour fruits then more woody and toasty. The finish continues in the same way, the fruitiness disappears quickly and a bitter note is added. The rum starts off more like a very well-balanced Foursquare, the Jamaican origin only becomes clear on the palate. The alcohol is quite dominant, a few drops of water help and at the same time strengthen the woody notes and also a little of the bitter side. A very good rum, for Long Pond rather well-behaved and not in the same intensity league as, for example, the Cambridge STCE."
"Very nice LP. Exciting profile and not everyday. Very spicy 84/100"
"Low Ester LP...yes, definitely...but quite successful...I like the slightly spicier profile. It's not an easy sipper, but after about 1 hour in the glass it's already much more harmonious than at the beginning and the alcohol is well tamed"
