How does this rum taste?
- Interesting vanilla aroma
- Exclusively limited release
- Intriguing aging profile
The Spirit of Art Versailles is a limited-edition rum crafted at Guyana's Diamond distillery, selected and bottled by Valinch & Mallet. Distilled in 1996 from molasses using a pot still and aged for 27 years, it has a 52.6% ABV and exclusive availability with only 221 bottles globally. User feedback highlights notes of vanilla, oak, dried fruit, and nutty aromas, complemented by flavors of licorice, lemon peel, and a woody undertone. While the rum's complex age intrigues, opinions suggest a lack of expected depth and some challenges with alcohol integration, leading to mixed reactions.

"#4122 This one was a huge disappointment. The overall profile is not very well balanced and I wonder if they just had to do a quick set this time? Had expected way more from this set 😮"
"A rum tasted at the WLP. The alcohol stings a little on the nose and the aromas struggle to express themselves, varnished wood and fermented yellow fruit. The palate is more balanced than the nose, full-bodied with caramel and prunes. You can almost feel crystallized brown sugar on the sides of the tongue. The finish is a little too bitter, but with lovely fruit."
"Very old diamond with a very low average rating. Curious what's up with that. N: sort of Port Mourant-ish. Aniseed. Light. Sugarcane. Light woodiness. Green apple. Not brilliant. Very dense and closed. T: strangely thin and spirity. Litchi. Pretty strong and alcoholic. Not at all typical Diamond flavours and for sure a lot younger in taste. I would not have bottled this. It has a few interesting flavours but it's also a tad too hot and light to make it interesting enough"
