How does this rum taste?
Doris 20th Anniversary Rum, a product of the renowned Caroni distillery, offers a distinctive tasting experience for rum enthusiasts. Distilled in Trinidad in 1997 and aged for 23 years, this limited-release rum is bottled at cask strength with an ABV of 51.1%. Despite its uniqueness, user feedback suggests mixed opinions: though celebrated for its aromatic profile featuring notes such as burnt sugar and rubber, it lacks intensity on the palate. Many describe the taste as thin, with underwhelming woody and dark chocolate flavors that fall short of typical Caroni expectations. With only 60 bottles available, it remains an exclusive choice for collectors and connoisseurs who appreciate its subtleties.

While I like the nose and do get some dirty Caroni notes there, the palate is more of a let down unfortunately. I do get Mokka, dark chocolate, wood and the slightest hints of dirt and menthol, delivery is very soft and feels very much watered down. Intensity and complexity are very much missing. It is not a horrible Rum per se, but definitely no got to Caroni for me. Cheers to zabo for digging this one up and sharing some samples! 💪
