“Blindly I would have guessed REV (malt, licorice, molasses, gentle) in the smell, KFM (earth, wood, leather, black tea, strong) in the taste. Definitely 100% Guyana and quite to my taste. A very fine droplet at a comparatively affordable price. I'm afraid I'll have to stock up on this rum. 😋 Update 2023-07-29: Slight downgrade from 89 to 87 points: The rum lacks a bit of fruitiness to play at the top.”

“MDS, i.e. from the Savalle still (of which there are two at DDL). The color seems to me very dark, probably, colored. The high ABV is already clearly perceptible on the nose and palate. A few drops of water make the RumClub rounder. Otherwise, a nice profile with spices, dried fruit, tobacco, leather....”

“Dark! Tobacco, mocha, oak and spices. Tart, powerful nose. A touch of alcohol blows around the nose, with a few drops of water it goes noticeably smoother and milder. In the mind abundant caramel, wood and spices. Long, powerful and tingly finish. Masculine! The inexpensive alternative to the 1999 <S>.😅 Shoutout to Bonn for this lovely sample.”

“#4141 This is a very nice release and the price tag is really good compared to what you get. Roasted wood with nice fruits and a medicinal note. Well balanced and good ABV integration. Draws really nice curtains in the glass and the empty glass has some licorice and coffee.”

“The color and age suggest that the rum came into the barrel colored after production.The nose is not as heavy and powerful as many of the El Dorade Rare Cask bottlings. The alcogol tweaks quite noticeably - not unusual at 65%. The nose is pleasing with burnt sugar, vanilla and bourbon and some dried fruit - but not particularly complex overall. Reminds me of good Spanish style rums.Then a consistent continuation on the palate: more dark chocolate and dark dried fruit. Again the alcohol strikes me unpleasantly.In the aftertaste further no surprise. The emphasis here is on the barrel notes, spice and coffee with a little harmless bitterness.Conclusion: Fair bepreistert standard Guyanarum, just "very good "Is possibly due to my form of the day and my hay fever nose, I will repeat the tasting soon.”

“Strong rum that remains long on the palate. Licorice notes, pleasant wood, barrel notes, coffee and some plum in the finish reminiscent of Guyana. In addition, there is a certain (delicious) dirtiness that I would have blindly located to Trinidad. Sober, it could seem a bit alcoholic in the approach, but that evaporates immediately after the first sip and gives way to the excellent harmonizing flavors.”

“Super powerful Guyana, immediately molasses, dry fruits, dark chocolate and a few dirty notes that one is more accustomed to from Trinidad. The alcohol is super integrated. I personally have left the rum just under 30 minutes in the glass before I tasted it, that has definitely done him good. Great bottling once again from RumDepot, I am thrilled. Price performance I find this rum also really fair!”

“Farbtrinkern wird bei dem dunklen Ton das Herz aufgehen. Sehr schöne dunkle Farbe im Glas, was auf eine Färbung schließen lässt. In der Nase erstmal die vollen 65% vol. Alkohol und ein wenig Lösungsmittel. Nach ein paar Minuten dann Aromen von Trockenpflaumen, würzige Lakritze, Kakao und über allem schwebt eine Holznote. Was die Nase versprach, das wird am Gaumen fortgeführt. Trockenpflaumen, eine Mischung aus Kakao und dunkler Schokolade. Fassaromen und malzige Röstaromen. Aber am Gaumen machen sich die 65% vol. bemerkbar. Keineswegs unangenehm. Im langen Nachklang überwiegend Aromen nach verbrannten Zucker, Malz und Mokka. Dieses Wochenende habe ich 4 Rums von Spirit of Rum (Fiji, Brazil, Hawaii und den Guyana)verkostet und die Edition 36 (Guyana) ist für mich der Gewinner des Wochenendes.”

“Da haben wir mal wieder einen coolen Kandidaten für die PLV Meisterschaft. Wirklich sehr fair bepreist und deutlich besser, als erwartet. Dunkel mit Malz, Karamell, Lakritze Früchten, Lack und Klebstoff. Gibt‘s in besser, aber nicht zu dem Preis. Besser als der Bellamy‘s Diamond vom letzten Jahr, der ja ähnlich bepreist war (allerdings für 0,7)”

“First impression without comparison was really great, for the price for me close to 9 points. The second time compared to other rums I have to correct something. On the palate you notice alcohol first and also not insanely complex. Nevertheless, still very good. Above all, the PLV is top. Under 80 euros for 0.5 are worth it.”

“Guyana essence! This rum just screams one thing to me in many ways: Guyana. Dark, as one knows from many (colored) rums from there, with a surprisingly sweet, but also bitter and thus reminiscent of molasses and licorice nose and a neat bitter note on the palate, which reminds me strongly of KFM. Although this rum comes from the DDL cauldrons (and thus, unlike REV and KFM, was no longer distilled directly at Enmore), it does have the DNA of those rums in it, as I've known from few post-2000 Demeraras so far. Unfortunately, I'm not a fan of too strong bitterness and the alcohol is also still very present with its 65%, so it is only enough for me for a place in the front 8.x range. Nevertheless, a nice rum from Guyana, which is especially for the somewhat more moderate purse (whatever that must mean in the meantime...) a good buy!”
