Velier Foursquare Raconteur 2006
Highly praised as a complex, creamy and powerful Foursquare with well-judged Oloroso influence, deep oak, coconut and chocolate notes. Seen as top-tier quality, though some find the alcohol and price demanding.
Foursquare fans and bourbon crossover drinkers who enjoy dry, oak-forward cask strength rums with coconut, vanilla, chocolate and subtle Oloroso sherry fruit.

How does this rum taste?
Intense, mature Foursquare with Oloroso twist
If you already enjoy Foursquare ECS or Velier releases, this pushes the classic coconut-vanilla profile into older, drier, sherry-tinged territory—rewarding if you’re comfortable with 61% and like serious oak.
Those sensitive to high ABV, expecting a very sweet rum, or budget-conscious buyers who dislike dry, woody profiles and premium price tags.

The goal? To offer you, the rum connoisseur, a place where you can choose with confidence—without paperwork, detours, or expert jargon.

Oh wow! This foursquare is really crazy! Balance and mouthiness from start to finish! The many years in barrel and the oloroso finish give it a beautiful complexity and flavors that I love! You can't ask for more from a rum!
Overall a fantastic and very complex rum. We were some friends teaming up at Cane Rum Society in Stockholm to celebrate Foursquare Appreciation Day. After our planned tasting of four different Foursquare ECS’s led by our friend the Swedish importer, Lars Renbjer, we went on with two Foursquare Velier releases. First out was the Raconteur the 8th rum in the collaboration between Luca Gargano of Velier and Richard Seale of Foursquare. Raconteur is a blend of rums distilled in 2006 in Coffey column stills and double copper retort pot stills. The first rum in the blend was aged in ex-bourbon casks for 17 years, while the second benefited from a double maturation: 5 years in ex-bourbon casks, then 12 years in old oloroso sherry barrels. This release, of 4800 bottles, is the oldest offered in the Foursquare Velier series.
Then it was time for this exciting Foursquare 🥃 - The taste is very strong and rich in the mouth with notes of burnt caramel, spices and tea - it has a long and tasty aftertaste - I think this Raconteur is very well balanced and is definitely one of my favorites among Foursquare 👍😁
Really nice foursquare profile with tropical aging! The oloroso cask is notable and well integrated, without overwhelming. The alcohol is perfect integrated, what makes this one a really good sipper.
