How does this rum taste?
RumX members love this approachable Caroni for its classic nose: tar, dried fruit and oak with a hint of smoke. At 40%, it’s gentle and easy to sip, showing herbal-vanilla undertones and a woody, sherry-tinged profile. While many wish for more strength and a longer finish, it remains a simple, enjoyable entry to Caroni, well-regarded by 43 reviewers.

Tasting a few Caronis from Bristol. The only Caroni from 2003 had to be tasted. The nose is totally Caroni, with tar, caramel and wood, but also lime and a clear vegetal side. All in all, a fine nose. The palate is acqueous, marked by dilution. Fruit, machine shop and vegetal aromas need to be sought out. The length is average and clearly too short for a Caroni. A fine rum, with plenty of drinkability, but the dilution has made it far too thin for my taste. A pity for the only example from the 2003 vintage. Tasted again and the high dilution is clearly its weak point.
Tasted by a friend. Very good, I love Caroni! Didn't feel the sherry barrel aging. Too light.
This is a great example of why rum should not be watered down. Most of the profile is a mere ghost of what it could have been.
Top Einsteiger Caroni mit bestem PLV. Mit mehr % wäre das ein hammer Rum.
