How does this rum taste?
- Intense vegetal profile
- Ideal for cocktails
- Fresh, light aroma
The HSE Cuvée Titouan Lamazou - Édition 50° Batch 3 is an unaged, agricole rum from Martinique’s Distillerie du Simon, distilled in 2021 from sugar cane juice. With a 50% ABV, it features prominent vegetal, sugarcane, and floral notes, both on the nose and palate. Users have described its aroma as fresh and light, yet the rum itself is quite polarizing, with some praising its robust agricole character and others finding it overly floral and lacking diversity. It is considered well-suited for cocktails like Ti' Punch due to its intensely vegetal profile, although some note it could be unbalanced compared to other options.

"RumX-Adventskalender 22.12.2023 Blind tasting: Thought this unaged rhum was an agricole from La Réunion. But despite the wrong guess: the rhum is not my cup of tea. I just don't like this olive note in rum. I'll have to adjust it upwards again: I do like this sweetness on the nose, especially in an empty glass."
"#24DaysOfRum2023 - Day 22 The aroma presents itself sharp, not only in the sense of being rather sour (there’s more than a single splash of vinegar to be discovered here!), but also because of its raw delivery. First of all, if shoved under my nose blind, I would have guessed wine: Gewürztraminer or perhaps Pinot Noir. It’s heavily mineral with riverwater and wet rocks before vinegar takes over and redevelops into cloves, bergamot and jasmine tea. The palate delivers a concentrate of what was introduced on the nose. The rough and overly sour edges are sanded off. Instead we get more bergamot and a less vegetal sweetness with the inclusion of meringue. This makes it quite parfumed and understandably polarising. Very peculiar, but it really does taste like a glass of good wine. The finish is fleeting and reasonably dry. I did not expect to enjoy this this much."
