How does this rum taste?
The "Jamaica (Exclusively chosen by Bar Lamp & D. Bespoke)" is a limited edition rum crafted at Jamaica's New Yarmouth distillery and bottled by Compagnie des Indes. Distilled in 2009 from molasses using a pot still, it was aged for over 12 years. With aromatic notes of esters and tropical fruits, including prominent pineapple, this cask-strength rum (59.5% ABV) presents a compelling flavor blend of vanilla, esters, and young wood. While celebrated for its delicate balance and integrated alcohol, some users find it less complex compared to sibling casks.

Franconian Tasting Gang am 02.03.2024 Für mich als New Yarmouth Junkie auch wieder eine sehr gute Abfüllung vom 2009er Jahrgang. Danke an Tobi fürs bereitstellen. Aus der Erinnerung heraus finde ich, dass die Abfüllung von Perola jedoch einen Ticken besser ist. Aber das ist jammern auf hohem Niveau.
Amazingly round, but still complex NY!
Tasted against the CDI for Perola (rx13284) ... both from samples. bar Lamp freshly opened bottle, Perola already a bit in the cupboard. The two are very similar and at almost the same high level. I would let the nose pass as a draw, but on the palate the Perola has the edge for me: it is somewhat warmer, fatter and fuller-bodied. The Bar Lamp is no less intense, but its character is just a little brighter. Kind of like a lamp with an adjustable color temperature ... the Perola is a little more cosy and I like that better today (yes, it could also be the weather) Many thanks to Tobi (Buddudharma / Mariano) for the sample
I'm slowly becoming a NY fan. Today is already the second NY that tastes great to me. Can go on like this. On the nose, it could have been anything else (very floral...almost like a young Long Pond "Light" with a low ester content). The taste was then really cool. Alcohol is well integrated
