- Balanced esters and spices
- Well-integrated alcohol
- Rich tropical fruit notes
Jamaican Rum LPS, a 22-year-old limited edition from the Long Pond Distillery, is highly regarded for its complex aroma and balanced flavor. Distilled in 2001 using molasses and pot still techniques, the rum was bottled at a robust 56.3% ABV by Wu Dram Clan. Enthusiasts appreciate its ester-rich nose with tropical fruit and banana notes, complemented by a complex palate featuring tropical fruits, spices, and licorice. To Long Pond
"The anticipation was huge.... Nose ...esters, butyric acid, citrus, cherry ,pineapple, banana. Slight peppery notes .Palate...clearly less fruity than the nose promises at first almost flat .... with the linger in the mouth then but gradually aromas come to light .... Citrus, banana beautiful wood notes and some butyric acid . Bitterness picks up a bit in the mouth but not disturbing. Beautiful LPS which could not quite meet my expectations."
"Schöner LPS, der leicht beginnt und einen langen Abgang hat. Tolle Long Pond Nase. Die 56% sind perfekt getroffen und der Rum wird immer besser. Der Abgang ist wahnsinnig lang und intensiv. Ein toller Rum. Tolles PLV für heutige Zeiten, die Verfügbarkeit natürlich schwierig bei nur 100 Flaschen."
"Comes across quite relaxed on the nose, a bit like a HD LROK, spicy, orange (like Tic Tac Orange), cake, underpinned with a fermented fruit ester note. Bacon-spicy on the palate, slightly salty out the back. On occasion comes then again the comparison with the Duchess...."
"Wehleidig I look back on the legendary Albrecht LPS... for then around the 28€ the bottle... priced this one can not keep up there, but the times have unfortunately also changed. What about the quality then? Nose: fine esters with vinegar underpinned at the start, plus yellow lemon with orange and cherry. A slight honey sweetness resonates. Then it gets a bit spicier, with a hint of black pepper, some smoke and very little bacon. Behind everything, yogurt or mild cheese are still hiding. All unobtrusive and subtle and thus very pleasant. 8.7Palate: a nice flavor curve with a distinct peak. Astringent and bitter at the start, salty, peppery with a coarse licorice note. Immediately behind that, "spiky" metallic and citrus notes that immediately flatten out with esters and a bit of vinegar, settling into a slightly sour metallic. Behind that is room for finer anise and -no not wood, rather cardboard. There's also a slight smoky, spicy nuance here now. Each sip obviously a bit more. Nice medium-long finish. 8.7You can clearly tell here that this is a nicely matured, adult Jamaican. Which comes along with balanced, medium ester content and very well-integrated alcohol. Fun to drink."
