Diplomático No. 2 Single Barbet Column Rum
Most enjoy the sweet vanilla-caramel profile and easy sipping. Critics find it faint, a bit cheap-tasting and synthetic, with a harsh finish. Overall seen as okay but unexciting filler.
Those who enjoy sweet, easy Venezuelan-style rums like standard Diplomático/Botucal and want to explore a slightly stronger, limited bottling without leaving their comfort zone.

Store visit Rum Paradise Hamburg April 2025. The next Botucal, but no real difference to the previous one. Vanilla, caramel and wood on the nose. A hint of chocolate is added on the palate.
Phew, really nasty finish. Hardly drinkable.
In my understanding this should showcase the ingredients in the Botucal Blend, but then why show of what is in part the reason you need to blend it so heavily. This really feels like a filler, think of grain whisky.
Ok no.2 here we go. Nose is a bit weird mostly wood/oak. Little bit of fruit, sort of dried figs and rest is weird synthetic smell kind of acidic. Taste again completely different than smell. Typical venezuelan rum with mostly vanilla, caramel (sweet) notes which are underlined by oak or barrel taste. Finish is medium to long one which is nice. Mostly woody harrelson in the finish. :P Same rating as no.1 for me. Retasting and pulling 1 point 👇
