This 8-year-old molasses-based rum boasts a 52% ABV and was distilled in 2015 using a Savalle Still. Users describe the aroma as sweet, fresh, fruity, and reminiscent of molasses and Demerara sugar, while the taste carries notes of wood, vanilla, banana, freshness, and caramel. Despite not being a typical Savanna offering, this rum was widely appreciated for its surprising flavors and great balance. Unfortunately, I did not have this rum when I cross-tasted the Savannas available in the house last Sunday. But the memory is still quite fresh, so I see this Savanna somewhere in the midfield einsortiert.mir has the rum due to the green apple association actually most likely reminded me of a Sancti Spíritus 1998. Tasted at the ProWein in Düsseldorf. No Grand Arôme (my preferred style of Savanna), but I still liked it very much. I must soon try again in peace.

I didn’t take any notes at the Rhum Fest so a more detailed review will follow as soon as I get the chance to sample this rum again in a better context. This was definitely the highlight of the rums I tasted at the Rhum Fest 2023! Edit: Third tasting, I reduced my note from 89 to 85. Floral with delicate spices. Wood, caramel and a hint of licorice. Makes for a very round easy sipper.

My best surprise of the Rhumfest this year. I was disappointed not to have had the opportunity to buy it. A real emotion to discover this product that knows how to go off the beaten track but still very pleasant. It starts on a completely crazy floral profile (geraniums!) but with a very nice balance. Personally I wanted to taste it but I did not expect this. Can't wait to try it again in better conditions. Very floral profile, unusual, a lot of freshness. Very pleasant, a lot of pleasure on this rum.

Un Savanna charmant au profil inhabituel, très axé au nez sur les notes florales (géranium), la fraîcheur de l’eucalyptus et les herbes aromatiques. Les fruits tropicaux et confits apportent leur lot de gourmandise, tandis que le boisé épicé donne du cachet à un profil très parfumé. L’attaque en bouche est suave et toujours aussi verdoyante sur les herbes et le parfum floral. On retrouve les fruits exotiques et une trame épicée plutôt gourmande, rejointe par le caramel et les fruits confits. L’alcool est bien intégré dans cet ensemble rond, frais et harmonieux. La finale, de belle longueur, voit les fruits secs tenter de se frayer un chemin au milieu d’une bataille chevronnée entre les notes boisées et épicées d’un côté, les saveurs florales de l’autre, qui sont toujours aussi présentes depuis le début de la dégustation. Un profil original, accessible et savoureux qui a tout pour plaire.

#4055 I like the design of the label and the price is OK in my mind. Still some way to go to reach a Grand Arôme ☺️ Fruity with light wood and some light varnish notes i love the caramel on the palate. Draws nice curtains and the empty glass is really nice and I can pick up more caramel and candied fruits.

Le côté floral est assez original et pour une fois ne me déplaît pas. C'est un bon rhum, agréable à boire. Le packaging me plaît. En revanche, le rapport qualité-prix ne me semble pas au rendez-vous : pour moi il y a un léger manque de complexité et d'intensité qui le dessert.

Kenne noch nicht so viele Savanna Abfüllungen. Diese habe ich als sehr ausgewogen und angenehm empfunden. Recht frisch mit einer gut ausbalancierten Holz Note. Die Menthol Note ist nett. Insgesamt aber unaufgeregt. Easy sipping dank nicht ganz so hoher ABV definitiv möglich.

Goûté au RF2023 donc dégustation sommaire. Très belle bouteille contenant un très bon rhum! Pas un Savanna comme je l'attendais, c'est très pâtissier, rond des épices de type cannelle/vanille, note de caramel, epais en bouche. Une bouteille à avoir.

Rhum doux mais puissant au goût de réglisse et vanille. Légère complexité, déroutant pour un Savanna (blend de mélasse) qui ravira également les amateurs d’agricole dont je fais partie. A besoin d’aération tout de même, revenir plus tard dans la bouteille après ouverture. Gouté en avant première lors de la soirée masterclass au Sauvage.

Tasted at Rhumfest Paris, it's not the usual Savanna flavors but it's super well made, easy to drink and nice on the spices. It's a blend of two molasses rums from 2015, distilled in the two different columns of Savanna and notably the historical copper "Savalle" which usually hosts pure juice. No crush on the Vast design but can't wait to discover the rest of the collection!

Schwierig. Der Rum ist ok, aber nicht mehr. Etwas Apfel, Kräuter, Easy Sippin. Der Preis ist aber komplett überzogen, definitiv auf den Sammlermarkt ausgelegt. Verpackung verspricht, was der Inhalt nicht halten kann.

I'll have to taste it under better conditions because when I see the notes it may be me who had a problem. Overall, I found it green, poorly balanced and with a pungent alcohol. I felt like I was tasting an ESB that had problems during fermentation.

Einer der wenigen Rums die merklich schlechter wurden, je länger sie im Glas waren. An Anfang ein Hauch Grand Arome DNA. Schöne Kräuter und Fruchtnoten. Bisschen Lakritz und Gewürze. Alkohol sehr gut eingebunden. Aber je länger er stand, desto flacher wurde er und es blieben nur noch Kräuternoten. Schwer zu bewerten.

The nose is very fruity, reminds me of white wines from Alsace, and feels a bit minty when the alcohol is reaching. On the palate, it is sweet, woody, warm, and spicy. With an hint of vanilla and caramel. The finish is medium and brings along the woody and spicy flavors. A taste of not enough.
