How does this rum taste?
Bold cherry and roasted wood drive this limited J. Bally Brut de Fût, a 17-year cask-strength agricole that stands out for its rich intensity and dark, varnishy oak. Layers of dried fruit, coffee, chocolate, and floral touches create a profile that’s both powerful and compelling, as noted by the RumX community. Complex, dry, and distinctly Martinican, it rewards those who appreciate assertive, old-school rums. Worth exploring for fans of robust, long-aged agricoles.

A rum tasted at the WLP and in Cologne. A warm nose with walnut, Cementit, old hemp rope and, above all, rapeseed flowers. A fairly lively attack on the palate, with leather, glue and wood, followed by fruit, yellow fruit and apple. A long, elegant finish. A fine rum, all elegance except on the attack and the finish, which is a little too bitter.
Edit: Tasted again and the good rating remains. Very fine rum Tasted together in the small spontaneous round of the Franconian Tasting Gang. It really picked me up. Thanks again to Rodolphe who split it back then.
Identisch zum 2000er. Sehr rund, öliges Mundgefühl. Hintenraus viele Bitterstoffe.
Solid agricole at a high drinking strength. Initially a lot of glue on the nose, then a pleasant blend of spices, chocolate, nougat, wood and subtle vegetal notes. The alcohol remains recognizable on the palate, alongside dried fruit, cherries, lemon, spices, chocolate with a hint of nougat, barrel notes. Nice release, high quality, but it doesn't quite come close to the other Vintage Brut de Fût releases of recent years.
