How does this rum taste?
- full with a lot of rubber
- klassisches HTR-Profil
- toller rum
Caroni’s Heavy Trinidad Rum HTR is all about that "kicks a lot of different places" energy (Kevin Sorensen 🇩🇰). Expect a hefty dose of rubber, tar, and caramel with a distinct undercurrent of vanilla and anise. The palate leans even further into tar and chocolate, balanced by earthy bitters and solvent-like notes; some find the bitterness dominates. There’s plenty of debate about the rum’s integration and character—Jakob calls the alcohol "not fully integrated," while cigares notes, "maybe it needs a lot of oxidation." A run for lovers of the gritty and unmistakable Caroni style.

"Epic Velier Caroni Tasting 2023: Classic HTR profile, with sweet vanilla, caramel and dried fruit notes on the nose. On the palate, the sweetness is once again quite present, with typical Caroni HTR flavors and a fairly present bitterness on the finish. The alcohol is also not fully integrated. A great rum, but still only in the lower mid-range of the Velier Caronis."
"Sehr ungewöhnliche Nase. Für meinen Geschmack zu bitter im Geschmack."
"Epic Velier Caroni Tasting: Nase und Gaumen nicht überzeugend, mehr dreckige Noten, Bitterkeit, viel Fasseinfluss. Dreckiger Abgang mit langen Bitternoten."
"Today we did a widespread tasting with very different rums. Phew, this one kicks a lot of different places. Had to add a little water after which it releases more flavours."
