How does this rum taste?
The S.B.S Ecuador Malacatos is a distinctive white rum distilled from sugar cane juice using a column still and bottled at an ABV of 57%. This unaged rum showcases a complex aromatic profile dominated by overripe fruit, floral notes, and hints of volatile compounds like glue. On the palate, it features prominent citrus and intense overripe flavors mixed with apple undertones. Reviews indicate a bold and edgy character, often likened to Jamaican funk or Clairin styles. A popular choice for funk enthusiasts, it presents a unique tasting challenge, with mixed opinions on its alcohol integration. This rum is particularly suited for mixing in cocktails and is celebrated for its intense fruity expressions.

Wow, real power! I'll have to serve this one in a blind tasting (Jamaica funk). 🤓
Very strange white rum. On the nose, pure glue & nail polish with overripe fruit. The taste is then quite alcoholic, salty, bitter and grassy at the same time. Reminds me of a slightly tangy grappa, with artichokes in brine. All in all, simply far too alcoholic and not my cup of tea in terms of aroma. Unfortunately, it doesn't convince me at all in a daiquiri. Too bad.

I like it very much. Nice and fruity. Alkoholeinbindung could still be a little better, but a really good white rum. Has surprised me positively
