How does this rum taste?
RumX members highlight the complex mix of citrus freshness and deep barrel notes in this 21-year Mount Gay single cask. The nose is fruity and mandarin-led with a slightly alcoholic edge, while the palate brings caramel, vanilla, dark chocolate and a light medicinal touch. Some find it a bit powerful, but many see it as one of the best Mount Gays they’ve tried, especially for its long, tasty finish.

Marked alcohol on the nose with acetone tangerine peel smoky nail varnish and a light tar finish a little on the mechanical workshop
A fine rum, especially for the beautiful, flavorful finish. The alcohol lacks a little integration. The nose is alcoholic but rather fresh, with tangerine peel and a hint of acetone. The palate is a little weak, the aromas not developing much. Citrus fruits provide freshness.
Maybe the best Mount Gay I’ve tried. It offered complexity through a sweeter side of caramel and vanilla which played against a medicinal note combined with bitter dark chocolate finish. You could certainly tell the barrel ageing and quality of the rum.
An enjoyable Babadian from Mount Gay distillery. A bit alcoholic in the mouth and the integration may be slightly off. Still has great flavours though, fruity and spicy with vanilla. A medium length finish
