How does this rum taste?
The S.B.S Guyana 2001 (Bourbon Cask) SV Rum from Uitvlugt distillery is a premium selection bottled by 1423 World Class Spirits. Distilled from molasses with a column still and aged for 22 years, this limited release of 218 bottles boasts a cask strength of 51.3% ABV. Predominantly featuring roasted nuts, coffee, and woody aromas, its palate delivers pronounced licorice and woody notes with hints of dried fruit and herbal tones. While users appreciate its depth and rich character, some find it lacks expected complexity. This cask strength rum offers a subtly dark, Demerara profile with minty freshness in the finish, making it a unique choice for rum enthusiasts exploring Guyana's distinctive styles.

Dark and heavy on the nose. Wood / liquorice / some dried fruits / roasted (nuts). Similar notes on the palate with liquorice / dried fruits and herbal notes. Feels a little harsh overall - from the freshly opened bottle mind you. Similarly to The Nectar SV this is not unlike the beloved SWR profile from 2001. However, again with a twist towards more herbal notes overall. Side-by-side with both to come :)
Again a special meet up besides the event itself because we think it's a bit too dull. Had a great time with friends again. My notes. Nose: roasted wood, raisin, anise, light coffee. Palate: oily, wood, roasted, anise, light smoke, herbal. Finish: medium to long, mint, wood, light coffee. Empty glass has licorice and a light caramel note.
Un rhum dégusté au GRF en 2024, S.B.S. Masterclass.
