La Maison du Rhum #5
Fans of balanced, slightly technical rums who want to explore TDL’s tropical fruit, oak and light menthol notes without jumping straight to heavy, cask‑strength bottlings.

How does this rum taste?
Most enjoy its typical TDL profile, fruity oak and great value. Critics note some alcohol bite, dilution and only faint mint. Consensus: a very solid, accessible introduction to TDL rums.
If you like characterful but not too wild column‑still rums, this is a great TDL gateway: full enough to be interesting, gentle enough to sip regularly and priced to pour freely.
Those seeking intense mint, very high complexity, or ultra-smooth 40% sippers; also not ideal if you’re sensitive to a bit of alcohol prickle.

By rum lovers, for rum lovers
I'm Oliver – together with Jakob, Robert, and Lukas, we started RumX in 2018 as a small passion project in Stuttgart, back then under the name Rum Tasting Notes.
What began as a digital tasting diary is now the world's most comprehensive platform for rum fans: over 24,000 bottlings, 270,000+ independent reviews, and an active community with 50,000 members. We combine the collective intelligence of our community with an integrated marketplace, allowing you to shop securely and manage your collection directly from the app.
The goal? To offer you, the rum connoisseur, a place where you can choose with confidence—without paperwork, detours, or expert jargon.

An unsurprising TDL featuring the usual hallmarks of this distillery: tropical fruits, wood, spices and menthol, which remains rather discreet here. On the palate, the alcohol is not perfectly integrated, but remains pleasant.
