How does this rum taste?
- Very complex and fruity
- The alcohol is toll eingebunden
- Herrlich süffig mit einem ordentlichen, aber angenehmen Holzschlag
RumX members keep coming back to classic Grays distillery notes: lots of dark fruits—particularly cherry and currant—deep wood influence, and a gentle thread of mint that shows up in the finish. Vanilla and raisin run through the nose and palate, with several folk picking up on a creamy, full texture. For some, it’s “harmonisch und treffend ausbalanciert” (@Boletus), while others peg it as a nostalgic sip reminiscent of a "Kirschlutscher aus meiner Kindheit" (@zabo). Oak, spice, and even flashes of licorice and menthol are spotted among layers of red and black berry fruit. Alcohol integration consistently gets praise, though a few note the woodiness or lack of standout character compared to other Grays picks.

"Rum Mauritius fliegt immer noch unter dem Radar, dieser hier ist dennoch schon "ausgetrunken". Leider, denn er ist sehr gut! Herrlich süffig mit einem ordentlichen, aber angenehmen Holzschlag, süße, Früchte und Kirsche en masse. Das Mundgefühl ist ölig und cremig. Ein super Rum!"
"Another rum from my new favorite distillery Grays. And this rum does not disappoint at all, the opposite is the case: he inspires (me)! Just look at the color of the rum in the bottle! 😍 Wonderfully dark, hard to believe in a rum from the year 2009. (Was there but helped?) Anyway, a very, very pleasant-balanced rum, deep, spicy, fruity, the for me identity-creating currant note may not be missing. Round thing, alcohol well integrated, acceptable PLV - recommendation especially for all who like to walk off the beaten path."
"In my mouth I have the association of a cherry lollipop from my childhood. Very pleasant to drink. Alcohol hardly noticeable or not noticeable at all. Just find it super pleasant. Various rums from Mauritius were tested, which were split into a larger set. Thank you very much for this amazing split Gunnar."
"This Grays is not my cup of tea, the nose is quite restrained and on the palate a strong bitter licorice hit is too dominant for me."
