How does this rum taste?
Arcade (V&B Exclusive Series 01) is a limited release rum from Jamaica, distilled from molasses at Multi Distilleries and bottled by Swell de Spirits. With a high ABV of 75%, this unaged rum offers a complex aroma profile dominated by esters, overripe fruit, and tropical nuances while remaining surprisingly well-balanced despite its strength. Many users note its pleasant sweetness and integrated alcohol, though they find it less ester-intensive than traditional Jamaican spirits. Ideal for both sipping and cocktails, this rum is often described as having a refined aromatic balance, with distinct phenolic and fruity notes. Not for seekers of ester bombs, it instead presents a subtle and elegant finish.

A well-made blend with surprisingly pleasantly integrated alcohol! The fruity notes prevail with the expected ester flavors! It can be enjoyed neat with zest and as a mixer. A successful bottling
#4158 If you're expecting an ester bomb you're going to be disappointed. The esters are there just kind of taking the rear seat on this one. Very fruity with nice floral notes. The palate is warm and medium dry and the finish is long. Nice curtains in the glass and the empty glass has some medicinal notes (maybe iodine) to it.
Un blend plutôt raffiné malgré les 75°. Bien sûr, on sent qu'on n'est pas sur une réduction à 45°. Pas de doutes sur la provenance, mais on n'est pas sur une bombe aux esters. C'est plus subtil et très parfumé.
A blend of Jamaican rums that is subtle and discreet for its alcohol content. The nose is rather timid, despite the phenolic and fruity notes typical of Jamaica. On the palate, the rum is surprisingly discreet. The whole is very well controlled, with no hint of the 75%. The profile is deliberately low in esters, which makes it far less aromatic than you'd expect. The finish remains in the same vein. There's no explosiveness or artifice here: this is a product that is more refined and elegant than extreme, and this is what can unfortunately make it a little dull if left pure in the glass. Far from being a bad juice, this is a rum that seeks balance rather than exuberance, and will shine in mixology. It would have been interesting to blend all the higher marks to obtain a truly extreme profile.
