How does this rum taste?
Père Labat Single Cask rum from Poisson Distillery, Marie Galante, is a complex Agricole distilled from sugarcane juice in 2004. With an ABV of 45%, it boasts a unique profile of woody aromas, honey, roasted coffee, and dried fruits. The flavor is marked by oak, chocolate, cinnamon, roasted elements, and orange notes. Users highlight its balanced and smooth drinking experience with hints of dessert-like sweetness molded by apple and vanilla. Though its price point is debated, many appreciate its interesting nuances, noting a prolonged finish after aeration.

I'm Oliver – together with Jakob, Robert, and Lukas, we started RumX in 2018 as a small passion project in Stuttgart, back then under the name Rum Tasting Notes.
What began as a digital tasting diary is now the world's most comprehensive platform for rum fans: over 24,000 bottlings, 250,000+ independent reviews, and an active community with 47,000 members. We combine the collective intelligence of our community with an integrated marketplace, allowing you to shop securely and manage your collection directly from the app.
The goal? To offer you, the rum connoisseur, a place where you can choose with confidence—without paperwork, detours, or expert jargon.
I find it super well-balanced, extremely tasty and drinkable, exactly to my taste at the moment. Addendum: Photo + still one of my favorites! I could drink it every day. I've lowered my rating from 9.5 to 8.9 points, I still think it's drinkable. But my inexperience and lack of comparisons led me to do so at the time.
Just got this one today and it's up to par with the 2010 version. A bit pricy, but it is also hard to find now. I love the fruit and spice that are there from nose to finish.
Naturally cloudy apple juice on the nose, along with melon. The finish is more cigar and coffee than fruity notes. Quite intense on the palate.
Very special Agricole with clear Calvados notes
