The "Golden Devil Jamaica (K&L Wines) C<>H" was produced in Jamaica at the Hampden distillery. It was selected and bottled by the independent bottler Hunter Laing. It was distilled in 1993 from Molasses with a Pot Still and then aged for 27 years. The rum is bottled at cask strength and has an ABV of 66,1% and the mark is C<>H. This is a limited release and there are only 130 bottles.

NOSE: latex paint, neoprene, acetone. Olive oil, briny. Mirin, jasmine, minerally, savory. A dry vegetal character that evokes a desert landscape. PALATE: ripe pineapple & banana, passion fruit syrup, lime- an explosion of ripe fruits. All of the bright notes well anchored by a salted caramel & sweet oak backbone. FINISH: caramel, vanilla latte, delicate oak tannins, ripe pineapple, banana... then arrives diesel, hot road tar, neoprene & faint rubber smoke... evolving into more sweet/sour tropical fruits, passion fruit, & rotting garbage. OVERALL: balanced, complex, with a long evolution. Mineral, industrial, savory notes are a perfect counterbalance to the bright tropical fruit. The oak is well integrated, and grounds what would otherwise be a heady experience. SCORE: 90/100
