How does this rum taste?
Most love its elegant complexity, dark chocolate and roasted notes with superbly integrated alcohol. Critics only wish for a bit more punch and length. Consensus: a top-tier modern agricole.
If you like balanced, oak-driven agricoles like other aged HSEs or Bally BDF, this hits the same sweet spot of dark chocolate, roasted notes and finesse, just at a calmer strength.
Total beginners to rum, lovers of ultra-sweet or light profiles, and seekers of high-ABV, ultra-long, powerhouse agricoles.

Farming at its best!
Thanks to the HSE stand for letting me taste this new release. The previous one had really won me over, which is what I love about Agricole, a model of gourmandise and balance at an affordable price (and what's more, it's not rare, but unfortunately the bottles aren't black and collectors' items and there are no animals on the labels😆). It's hard to compare this one with the 2021 because I tasted it quickly at a trade show, but it seemed just as good to me. So for me, very high marks like its little brother.
The second release from the 2006 Single Cask, this HSE lives up to expectations. The nose is extremely aromatic, deep and elegant, with tropical fruit (pineapple), dried fruit (dried apricots), tobacco, roasted almonds, toasted bread, spices (cinnamon, vanilla, pepper), mellow oak, dark chocolate, caramel and candied cane. An olfactory blend that works to perfection. On the palate, the attack is lively and intense, but just as tasty. The profile is very spicy and delicate, with dark, woody and tannic notes, followed by a powerful empyreumatic perfume of toasted and roasted notes (notably almond). Exotic fruits and raisins, sugar cane and chocolate are also present. A multi-faceted profile, perfectly mastered and wildly round. The finish, slightly longer than the first batch, eclipses the fruit in favor of warm, sweet spices, wood, chocolate, coffee and almonds, with a hint of candied cane caramel. A noble rum from the world of agriculture.
Nase: getrocknete Pflaumen, Aprikosen, Datteln, Mandeln, Paranuss, Schokotrüffel Gaumen: Datteln, süsse Kirsche, Zimt, Vanille, etwas Walnuss, etwas Holz, Alkohol gut eingebunden, sehr schön zum trinken
