"Overall an OK quite tasty, mostly fruity, unaged rum. A good friend offered me a glass of this rum brought home from the Seychelles by his daughter. The brand Takamaka is produced in Seychelles at the Trois Frères Distillery distillery and this one was distilled in 2022 and bottled at ABV 43%."
"7,5:On the nose, the first impression is fresh, vegetal, with sugar cane and molasses, a bit estery with fruity hints of tropical fruits. Aeration brings out peaches, buttery sugar cookies, plums, raisins and cinnamon. 7,5:On the palate, the attack is soft with ripe mangoes and pineapple, brown cane sugar, vegetal, hint of red grapes, lemongrass, hint of spices. 7,2:The finish is medium with fruits and sugar, pepper, unripe pineapple, digestive biscuit, milky tea, popcorns, blueberry muffins..."
"A visit to the Takamaka distillery is worthwhile! During the pandemic, the distillery has built up a second mainstay alongside its high-quality pot still made from fresh sugar cane juice from the Seychelles in very small quantities with a triple column still that works with molasses from abroad (Mauritius). This enables continuous production in large quantities, serving the cocktail and beginner segment. Triple distillation produces a very neutral rum, which is then flavored with aromas (e.g. fruit essences, cinnamon, vanilla, sometimes also with coloring and sugar). This is also the case with this rum, which is very thin. The new segment helps the distillery financially, but it does not produce a quality rum."
