How does this rum taste?
The FRC Dutch Windmill Collection Oranjemolen is a unique cask strength rum from Zuidam distillery, Netherlands, with limited availability of only 136 bottles. Distilled from molasses using a pot still and aged for 4 years, it offers a robust aroma of grapes, raisins, and vanilla. Its palate reveals licorice, vanilla, and sherry notes, complemented by spicy undertones. User reviews suggest a strong influence of sherry, with a slightly peppery finish. Some describe the rum as complex due to its sherry cask aging, though opinions vary on its overall appeal and balance. This rum could be ideal for those interested in exploring sherry-influenced expressions, albeit its profile appears to be somewhat divisive among tasters.

To Zuidam
As expected, the weakest of the three current windmills, for me without recognition value. Maybe what for a high-quality cocktail? In the nose soft wood (here he gets 76 points from me). On the palate, the rum is rather tart for my liking, I notice nothing of the sweetness of any PX cask (68 points).
Oh what fun this nose is. There is some fresh mint here and really a lot of fun to be had. But in the end nothing really remains on the palate. What a downfall and a disappointment. Maybe with some more aging?
In a direct comparison of the three Zuidam FRC releases, the most complex and at the same time most mature profile. For me, therefore, also with the nose in front in the overall evaluation, because the aromatic complexity is most pronounced for me here.
