8,7:On the nose, the first impression we get is very tempting, as there are dried and tropical fruits, the wood is roasted with leather. We feel sweetness of this rum with burnt sugar, caramel, honeyed pastry.Very balanced. On aeration, we notice some orange peel, mandarine comes through the cloud of sweet notes, also vegetal molasses and typical Trinidadian metallic, plastic notes, menthol. 8,7:On the palate, the attack is fruity with tropical, yellow fruits, the wood is spicy and charred with roasted nuts, chocolate, leather. The molasses is dark, waxy and bitter, as the industrial notes become strong with tar, plastic and dirt, the wood resinous, dry, until the rum is balanced with dried fruits like currants, lemon peel and mandarine. We certainlly cannot miss menthol...The spices that attack our buds are pepper and nutmeg. After long rest, the rum becomes sweeter with candied caramel and honey.Perhaps we could taste umami. 8,3:The finish is intense, long, waxy, roasted wood with nuts, filled with industrial notes like tar, dirt, plastic. It is dry and spicy. There are hints of dried and yellow fruits and after a while becomes tannic..
You can feel the 52% throughout the whole tasting, however there are nice notes of wood and long finish. I think this might be a bit higher level rum, not for everybody, but for those that like to search for the taste and who like it dry, it's a good choice.
