How does this rum taste?
- schöne Fruchtigkeit mit einer kandierten Süße
- Joghurt-Note, die die feine fruchtige Süße unterstreicht
- Alkohol ist gut eingebunden
Rumclub Private Selection Ed. 33 FSDP delivers classic Fiji glue and ester up front, balanced by pronounced fruity notes—think candied pineapple, citrus, and even a quirky jammy yogurt. The nose leans into "Werkstatt-Aromen" with a touch of varnish (Frank), before sweet, spicy, and vegetal character builds on the palate. While complexity is good, some found the alcohol a bit "zu scharf" (Alex Kunath) and felt depth was just short of top marks. Give it time and maybe a splash of water—advice echoed by Artur Schönhütte.

"First impression at the HanseSpirit:Fulfills exactly the expectations I had and whose fulfillment I had hoped.Fruity, oily, pleasant workshop aromas...Nachtasting follows. So, and now again in peace at home:Nose: totally pleasant, spicy-fruity, with this special oily texture, which together with pencil shavings and some varnish or glue reminiscent of the fumes from a precision engineering workshop. Interesting also an intense yogurt note that underscores the subtle fruity sweetness. In fruit here gooseberry with lime together with canola honey. The over 60% is very well integrated here. 86Palate: initially that oily, artificial attack again, slightly salty-bitter, with pencil mien. Slightly resinous and something like polish to it. The fruit is again reminiscent of gooseberry, this time with lime zest. Also, the yogurt note comes through clearly again. I really like it. 84Must correct the rating from yesterday significantly upwards. Now 85 instead of 80. Very nice Fiji profile!"
"Cedar wood on the nose, alcohol and spices. A slightly lean nose. On the palate, it's all the same. The cedar not only dominates, but also dries out the mouth. The finish is rather short, dominated by wood. A rum that gives an impression of dryness and lacks amplitude."
"Unfortunately not my cup of tea. I know much better Fiji bottlings. Too tart and bitter for me. However, the alcohol is very well integrated... After another cross tasting with the TRC 15yo and LMDW Fiji, this Fiji is in third place. It tastes too spicy to me and unfortunately doesn't have the good dirty Fiji notes"
"This is a good daily sipper! Classic Fiji from start to finish. The 60,4% are integrated so well…. Unfortunately, he couldn't fully convince me."
