How does this rum taste?
Reviewers love this Caroni for its approachable but classic profile, balancing tar, leather, and roasted wood with surprising hints of dried and yellow fruits. The nose is rounded with burnt sugar and toffee notes, mellowing into oak, licorice, and persistent smokiness. It's commonly enjoyed as an easy sipper or a “daily Caroni,” making it a go-to for both experienced fans and newcomers. Its accessible yet typical Caroni character explains its popularity for anyone wanting a taste of Trinidad’s famed distillery without overwhelming intensity.

Epic Velier Caroni Tasting 2023: The HTR profile comes through, rather dry overall, little sweetness. Well accessible thanks to the reduction, without offering any great complexity. Apart from that, however, a solid Caroni from tropical storage with a classic profile.
Typical Caroni rum. However, not very special at a low drinking strength. The aroma is there, but not particularly complex. In my opinion, the weakest of the bottlings from the standard series. Nevertheless, a rum that is fun to drink.
Very nice entry level Caroni at a wonderful drinking strength. More toasty and more caramel than the 12. Falls in comparison to the outstanding 1996 vintage but clearly.
Compared to the 12 year old this one is fruitier and it has more complexity and smoothness to it. The nose is typical Caroni and it's rounded and intense with a bit of industrial flavour to it. The palate is very complex and fruity with smoky oak to it. The finish is very long and fruity with smoked oak to it. Price to quality is good.
