How does this rum taste?
RumX members love this 15‑year Mount Gay XO for its balanced, classic Barbados profile—vanilla, caramel and oak with a hint of chocolate. Smooth at 43% and unsweetened in style, it’s enjoyed neat, in an Old Fashioned, or even mixed. Some find it a touch dry or not the most complex, but with 231 reviews and a bestselling reputation, it’s a dependable crowd‑pleaser.

By rum lovers, for rum lovers
I'm Oliver – together with Jakob, Robert, and Lukas, we started RumX in 2018 as a small passion project in Stuttgart, back then under the name Rum Tasting Notes.
What began as a digital tasting diary is now the world's most comprehensive platform for rum fans: over 24,000 bottlings, 250,000+ independent reviews, and an active community with 47,000 members. We combine the collective intelligence of our community with an integrated marketplace, allowing you to shop securely and manage your collection directly from the app.
The goal? To offer you, the rum connoisseur, a place where you can choose with confidence—without paperwork, detours, or expert jargon.
Had just a sample of it, but I will definitely not hesitate for more if I get an opportunity again. The nose is round and pleasant with aromas of vanilla and chocolate. At the palate it’s complex, mild, balanced and spicy. The finish is medium long.
A little high quality-price ratio, but for a sweet rum, it does quite well
This is definitely a Bajan style rum. Heavy and yet well balanced. This release is better than the one from 2011.
My first Mount Gay rum. I find it a bit harsh and quite woody.
