What began as a digital tasting diary is now the world's most comprehensive platform for rum fans: over 24,000 bottlings, 250,000+ independent reviews, and an active community with 46,000 members. We combine the collective intelligence of our community with an integrated marketplace, allowing you to shop securely and manage your collection directly from the app.

8,3:On the nose, the first impression we get is smoky and fruity with bourbon and dried fruits like prunes, raisins, a bit leathery, flowery and medicinal with petrol note, as the wood is roasted with caramel, chocolate. On aeration, it becomes spicy with anise, the molasses is herbal and minty, there is pleasant citrus that balances roasted notes. Some tannins and bacon might appear after resting....and candied banana 8,4:On the palate, the attack is smoky and fruity with dried fruits like raisins, apricots, citrus and yellow fruits, the wood is charred and spicy with milk chocolate, caramel, roasted nuts.It is round, balanced. The molasses is vegetal with eucalyptus, mint, a bit waxy. After resting the rum, delicious confectionery with nougat, toffee, vanilla pops up, a bit malty, creamy...the banana is still candied ... 8,4:The finish is long with charred wood smoky notes like caramel, roasted nuts, bbq, cocoa, minimally tannic, confectionery with crunchy bread. The fruits are dried, citrus and yellow. In the end the rum is floral and we also might think of tasting fruit compote with orchard fruits and spice like clove... If you want to get to know a typical 98 Sancti Spíritus at the beginning of your unsweetened rum passion, you can confidently reach for this rum. It's typical because the green apple and fresh, slightly bitter mint markers already stand out clearly. I still like this profile, even though this rum has been diluted too much for my taste; it could have done with a little more horsepower under the hood (to stay with the Cuba image: the Chevy body has remained, but the 8-cylinder has been replaced by a Lada engine).
Surprisingly floral, herbal and fresh for a Cuban. The cask is hardly noticeable for its age, especially on the nose. More so on the palate, with tobacco and especially in the finish, smoke and herbs remain.
