This Clement is quite ok, but somehow not my cup of tea. It's mainly woody on the nose. Some vanilla is also recognizable. The palate is also predominantly woody and oaky, but also some vanilla again.
Retasting at the German Rum Fest 2024 --------------------------- This one was a huge surprise. Only 6 years old and the packed with flavours. Oak and fruits from nose to finish. A really well made XO. Price to quality is very good I'd say.
8,3:The nose of this rhum agricole is fresh and minty, green apple arises. It's also loaded with real smoke, spices, also fresh (curry). It's complex, vegetal and decidedly fresh, like cut grass or Alpine tea. Then a lovely woodiness enters the scene. Finely spiced, it is reminiscent of a cigar box with a hint of vanilla. This woodiness grows stronger, appearing whiter and younger. The cane becomes more powerful, accompanied by its faithful white pepper. A certain naturalness is restored with this wood and fresh cane. On aeration, sophistication returns with licorice spiked with caraway seeds. We return to the depths of the oak barrel. The woodiness is softened by honey. Its freshness now brings up again apple and pear. 8,1:The palate is well-balanced, typical agricole with as much room for cane as for spice and wood. A certain acidity stimulates the taste buds, which seem to deliver a sweet juice where wood and vanilla merge. 8,2:The spices persist, little vanilla joined in the end by past fruits, some nice peaches, licorice, that had remained discreet until then... Edit:6.4.25, an upgrade
I almost forgot the cast sample before disposing of the bottle. Very fine aroma of fruit, apple, nutmeg. The taste is also more subtle. Again, apple, peanuts and bergamot tea, cognac. Similar finish. A very fine rum for easy sipping.
