"I had the chance to taste it blind, and my money was on an old Demerara. A nose of very, very old tropical Demerara, with lots of wood, but balanced by a fresh, almost minty character. Old tar, used to dampen the boards of sailing boats, and spruce too. The palate follows the nose quite closely, with a slight tartness: old tar and varnished wood. The finish is very long, both powerful and elegant, woody to the point of madness, but balanced thanks to the menthol. There's even a hint of salinity on the finish. A rum that tells a story of sailing ships, fragrant warehouses, old ropes and the sea. Splendid!"
"I still really like this, eventhough i for sure is not the best 1996, it really comes a long way from lesser velier caronis. It is for me the weakest of the trilogy, since it is really forward on the wood. Especially after a time this comes out super woody!"
