Sweetness in the form of caramel and burnt sugar, as well as woody notes in the nose, palate and finish. Due to the low ABV, it is very mild, but rather weak in taste. On the other hand, the sweetness is natural. Update: the second tasting revealed notes of coffee and dark chocolate.
It’s hard to give a fair assessment of this after trying the older 25yr brother, but this still is a fantastic rum. It’s shockingly smooth and for the price, provides a great value. It has a lot of the same notes as the older 25yr, very sweet and very nice notes of the aging. Solera method always yields a pleasantly mild but well rounded rum.
