Hampden 8 MARKS COLLECTION LROK 2022
Fans enjoy the tropical fruit, esters and dry finish; critics find it rough, thin and less funky than expected. Overall seen as interesting, educational Hampden rather than a must-have sipper.
Hampden and high-ester Jamaican fans who want to understand the LROK mark raw, and cocktail enthusiasts looking for a dry, punchy daiquiri or mixer at high proof.

How does this rum taste?
Dry, fruity, educational Hampden mark
If you already like Hampden and want to study its building blocks or turbo-charge daiquiris, this is worth it; if you mainly sip neat, better pick an aged LROK instead.
Beginners, those sensitive to 60% ABV, or anyone expecting a rounded, aged Hampden funk bomb for easy sipping.

LROK ist nich meine Lieblings-Mark, ungereift finde ich ihn aber gar nicht übel, da er etwas herbaler und intensiver schmeckt.
Tasted the 8 Hampden Marks and re-tasted a year later with a better score. Very similar to last year's tasting. Slight spiciness on the nose, chalky like the OWH, wet paper. The palate is less aromatic than its predecessors, chalky with overripe apple and a fermented side that is quite present throughout the tasting. Does the chalkiness come from the distillation heads, as in cognac and armagnac? The finish is a little short but complex, with apple very present. The empty glass is warm but a little hollow. Disappointing for a LROK, whereas I found the HV RX104 absolutely magnificent.
Tasting this alongside HCLF, C<>H, and DOK. As always, that Hampden tropical funk is there, but I get much more green or unripe fruits and really appreciate the dryness. This would (will) make a fantastic daiquiri. The sour cherry on the finish is wonderful.
Lightly dry and fruity with a light roasted touch.
