How does this rum taste?
Demerara Rum from Guyana’s Versailles Distillery, bottled by Rum Nation, is aged for 25 years, distilled in 1990, presenting a rare, vintage offering with only 850 bottles available. It features a 45% ABV, highlighting rich, woody aromas complemented by prunes and herbal tones. The distinct sherry finish is evident, adding complexity to its dry, herbal profile. Users appreciate its warm, dark character and diverse spice and fruit flavors, although some note its diluted palate due to lower ABV. This rum is distinguished by an intricate balance of wood, herbs, and undercurrent of anise and cherry, offering a medium-to-long, slightly bitter finish. Ideal for collectors and connoisseurs seeking a unique tasting experience.

To Versailles
A pretty OK rum but I know they can do far better. Not the best one by far from Rum Nation. The nose is nice and fruity with vanilla and oak. There is a hint of sherry in there as well. The palate is also fruity, a bit dry and slightly bitter with spices and oak. The finish is medium to long, dry and lightly bitter with raisins and vanilla/oak.
Sherry barrel aging complements the Versailles profile well. Nice nose with prune, wood, herbs and vanilla. I like the spicy palate as well. Not a complexity wonder, and lacks some power, but solidly made.
Tolle Nase! Am Gaumen fehlen ihm leider ein paar Prozente. Ich mag aber den dunklen, dreckigen Charakter!
