The goal? To offer you, the rum connoisseur, a place where you can choose with confidence—without paperwork, detours, or expert jargon.
An interesting nose with lots of influence from the red wine cask. Plenty of dark red fruits with some oaty biscuits and big floral punches. A little sweetness but mainly dry. Velvety roasted praline appears first in the palate. The red wine cask is still prominent, lots of tannins and clove. The finish is quite long, an earthy cigar note lingers with some dark caramel. A nice rum, the wine cask makes it interesting. Definitely needs some water to open it up before sipping.
A young and punchy Maderian rum. Nose is pleasant, with oak, calvados and fruit including strong apricot. More complex on the mouth with clove, praline, and coffee softening into a medium length finish with rich toasted elements, cigar smoke and brown sugar and caramel. It’s not exceptional but confirms the view that Madeira has the potential to produce truly world class rums. Better than I was expecting and one of few amarone cask rums. 75-80 but I enjoyed it so being generous!
Purchased after one reviewer gave it rum of the year. I’m simply not a huge fan of agricole, and this bottling seems confused. Havent finished in over a year which shows it aint great. My friends dont like it much either.
