26.06.2025 Retasting and I stick to my score. --------------- #5098 Sunday - The last shots before our partners are picking us up 😊 24.01.2025 - 26.01.2025 A nice weekend in my sisters summerhouse with old friends and colleagues tasting a lot of rums. I can only recommend like we did, no phones allowed and then only music in the background 😊 Colour Medium dark. Nose Fresh, wood, light floral, spice, fruits, light cherry, vegetal, light nutts, sugarcane. Palate Round, balanced, wood, light grass, floral, light citrus, light mint, light tobacco, medium spicy. Finish Long and warm, medium spicy, light wood, light roasted, fruits, light lemon, light mint, spice. Empty glass Light nutts, light mint, apricot, light grass.
The nose promises a lot. On the palate, it is a little too woody for me. However, the dilution does not harm it.
This Single Cask really needs some time in the glass. The nose is rich with cherry, floral notes, and woodiness that borders on bourbon-like, alongside hints of fruitcake. As it opens up, darker tones of tobacco and cocoa appear, with a subtle burnt rice pudding quality. The palate offers sweet stone fruit, citrus, and red currants. The finish brings anise, dried apricot, Dutch waffles, and forest honey. This rum is one to savor slowly as it reveals its full complexity over time.
