With a limited run of 6500 bottles, this rum showcases a dynamic interplay of vegetal, spicy, and citrus notes along with fresh sugarcane aromas. This is a pure cane juice in brut de colonne with a 9-month rest in vats (which is long, and all the better for it) and a short 2-day fermentation (normal for a pure cane juice). 6500 bottles were produced. 👃: The very first time I put my nose close to the neck, I was greeted by the green olive. This was followed by fresh notes of sugar cane, anise, lime, but also slightly salty iodine notes. The nose is very approachable and blind I wouldn't have guessed the 68.7 degrees of alcohol. Taste: here, on the other hand, you can feel the cavalry arriving, with spicy, almost spicy notes well counterbalanced by... A lot of things really. I had to come back several times because the aromas are so intense and varied. First, lots of freshness with vegetal and earthy notes, then the licorice stick and decla cane sweetness return in full force. The finish is long, slightly peppery, sweet and then vegetal, with a slight taste of... White radish. As I wrote that, I thought to myself, "Are you nuts? White radish? But I'm not going to give up. In the end, we have a rum with a rather classic nose, well made but with no great surprises and bluffing for its alcohol content. On the palate, it's stronger and funkier, with a superb balance of alcohol and sweetness. All in all, this Creol Straight is a great success, and will undoubtedly stand out in a cocktail.
In the first taste, I find dried orange peel, almost orange zest, big/big bitterness. There are also spices: pepper, anise, cardamom, others that escape me for the moment. Herbaceous, fresh cane, Slight iodine on the lips Quite fatty Very well-integrated alcohol, powerful, long, spicy finish, freshness Very, very good
#4135 Here are the last of the samples. Nice having a break to let the taste buds recover. This is a nice Savanna. Intense profile yet well balanced I'd even say smooth. It needs to rest for a while before it really opens up.
Short trip reunion September 2024 The highlight of the day was the Savanna Creol Straight with 68.7%. Beautiful agricole, very herbal and citrus fruits on the nose and palate. I think the alcohol is well integrated. Fun fact: you can't buy Savanna in normal supermarkets here, only in certain stores or bars.
