How does this rum taste?
- Distinct sherry influence
- Not overly sweet
- Complex fruit and wood notes
Bold cherry and sherry notes lead the Don Papa Sherry Cask, supported by vibrant red fruits, barrel-aged richness, and a distinctively woody backbone. Community tastings highlight a dry, fruity palate touched with spice and a lingering finish, making this rum a unique, less-sweet alternative to classic Don Papa. Worth a sip for those seeking sherry-kissed complexity and a twist on familiar profiles.

"This is a rum which was finished in 5 different casks. First finish is done in American oak bourbon casks and then 18 months in 4 different sherry casks; Fino, Pedro Ximinez, Cream and Palo Cortado. A very nice long velvety finish. "
"Surprisingly fruity and spicy nose. On the palate, the ingenious sherry influence comes into its own. A relatively woody bouquet with an interesting spiciness (cinnamon, clove) and intensity. Dry and fruity at the same time. The finish is longer than average and leathery/spicy. The special thing about the unsweetened bottlings from Don Papa is their unmistakable aroma, which cannot be compared with rums from other countries. Around 90 euros is quite acceptable for this rum and the taste experience is worth it anyway."
"Pleasant tasting in a Mamacita mexican restaurant in Athens centre right after arrival. Just a small shot for 9 euros as a starter. I expected a very cherry sweet blend, a little surprise and not bad after all."
"Another relatively fruity rum. You can taste 100% that it has a sherry cask finish. This rum has a good note. I found it quite appealing, would definitely recommend it :)"
