Distilled in 2006 using Molasses and a Coffey Still, this rum boasts 16 years of tropical aging with an additional 3-year finish in Ex-Port casks. Bottled at cask strength with an ABV of 60.1%, this limited release offers only 271 bottles. Tasting notes suggest a complex and rich aroma of coconut, port, tobacco, raisin, and a strong presence, while the flavor profile leans into coconut, chocolate, port, raisin, and oak. Man riecht und schmeckt deutlich den Port-Einfluss. Mir persönlich ist dieses ‚Finish‘ (wenn man davon bei dreijähriger Nachreifung noch sprechen kann) zu viel. Blind könnte ich den Grundstoff nicht mehr zuordnen. Insgesamt aber schon ein gelungenes Experiment, speziell für Port-Fans!

16y tropical aging 100% Coffey Collumn Still Ex bourbon+ 3y Ex Port cask, 60,1%, der wohl bis dato erste 100% Coffey Still meines Wissens?! Nase: dunkle Schokolade, geröstete Kokoschips, Kräuter, Portwein, Toffee, Karamellbonbon, Banane, etwas Klebstoff, etwas Pappkarton, Kirsche Geschmack: Brutal lecker, Mokka, Zartbitterschokolade, Kardamom, kokos, Traube, Muskat, dörrpflaume, Portwein überall präsent, Bratäpfel, Banane, Zimtrinde, cassis... schöne Tannine und langer Abgang. Erst trocken dann süßer werdend. Könnte blind für mich n Mix aus 94er new Yarmouth und 98er foursquare sein, dazu natürlich der Port Einfluss. Sehr geil und für mich ein super schöner daily sipper.

I would have blindly put more in the direction of Foursquare or New Yarmouth 1994. Saint Lucia DNA clearly in the background. For Port fans but an absolute recommendation.

Spannend. Das Port-Finish bringt eine neue Dimension in das St.Lucia-Profil. Einerseits fehlen dieser Abfüllung ein paar der Nuancen des klassischen St. Lucia Profils - das dürfte zumindest teilweise auch dem reinen Column Stil Destillat geschuldet sein. Langeweile kommt aber dennoch nicht auf, weil die finale Lagerung in Ex-Portfässern viele neue Eindrücke einbringt. Eher für Port-Liebhaber als für St.Lucia-Puristen geeignet, aber alles in allem durchaus ein rundes Profil.

Die Abfüllung hat mit einem gewohnten St. Lucia nicht mehr viel zu tun. Dennoch ein solider Rum.

Ich glaube der Port Einfluss bringt etwas Pepp in das Column Still Destillat. Ich mag Pot Still St. Lucia lieber, aber ich glaube dass das Portfass hier in dem Fall hilfreich ist.

Wenn ich Portwein trinken möche, greife ich zu Port, ist deutlich günstiger.
