How does this rum taste?
This limited-edition Jamaica ITP rum from Long Pond distillery, bottled by Barikenn, wows with its balanced, expressive character. Notes of overripe tropical fruits, wood, and spices entice while the punchy 58.3% ABV keeps it vibrant, albeit with a hint of harshness to some palates. A tropical aging jewel with vanilla and chocolate nuances, but the strong wood presence and bitterness divide opinions.

“The nose starts invitingly fruity (sweet) and mildly spicy. In addition, I notice a note like fresh unbaked cake dough and something like musty forest floor - very interesting! On the palate oily, lots of spice and barrel notes, sweet but clearly less fruity. The finish is long and slightly bitter (cocoa and coffee). In sum, a very good rum. I have unfortunately the OB ITP no longer for comparison but in my memory, the OB bottling is not quite as bitter in the aftertaste and a little more fruity. I give this rum but one point more because it seems more intense to me compared to the OB bottling.”
