How does this rum taste?
- Rich coconut and caramel flavors
- Long-lasting finish
- Smooth despite high ABV
The S.B.S Fiji 2004 is a distinguished limited-release rum crafted in Fiji, aged for 18 years and bottled at an impressive 68.3% ABV by 1423 World Class Spirits. Made from molasses using a pot still, this rum is noted for its complex aroma of caramel, coconut, and vanilla, although its high alcohol content is noticeable. Despite its strength, many find it surprisingly smooth and oily, with coconut and caramel elements being dominant on the palate. While it provides a long-lasting finish, it can be somewhat unbalanced, leading to mixed impressions. It's ideal for those seeking an intense, vibrant experience, albeit not the typical Fiji funk some expect.

"Second tasting: nice and fruity on the nose, better than I remembered. Taste and finish, however, quite smoky (unchanged) Very light nose, very pleasing, no rough edges. Strongly alcoholic on the palate and a continuation of the nose, but with more barrel and roasted aromas. Toasty and unspectacular finish. Hmm, very atypical, alcoholic and not my taste, I miss the Fiji funk and fruitiness. Just about "good"."
"Had a few extra samples that I tried on Saturday 😊 The nose is a bit light and the ABV shi es through because the integration is lacking. A bit out of balance but not a bad rum. Needs to rest for a good while or the ABV will bite you."
"Fiji Tasting mit Tasting DomM Im Vergleich zu den anderen Fiji die wir am Abend verkostet haben, hat dieser nicht ganz so gut abgeschnitten. Aber trotzallem kann man ihn gut trinken, aber es gibt weitaus bessere Abfüllungen und Jahrgänge aus diesem Land."
"Surprisingly mild and oily for just under 69%. Aromatically, I would be blind to Barbados or Guatemala. But really tasty and felt eternal finish."
