"On the nose, the 2006s are overall - unsurprisingly - quite similar. Dried fruit, subtle spicy and woody notes - perhaps the most obvious caramel note in a direct comparison should be emphasized here. On the palate the obligatory prune, distinct smokiness, leather, licorice, wood, again caramel sweetness - compared to the other 2006s most smokiest. Aromatically quite with appealing complexity. Personally, I'm not the biggest fan of overly roasted or smoky flavors, but if that appeals to you as much as the REV profile, you should get your money's worth here. For me, it's a bit too much roastiness as well as medicinal alcoholic spiciness on the palate. For the comparison to the 1994 representatives, I repeat my impressions of the other 2006s: much less heaviness, the plum notes appear here more in tandem with currant, the dark tones of wood, licorice, leather and caramel are much less pronounced. I am inclined - despite the aromatic complexity of this bottling - to speak of "REV Light." While the spectrum of 2006s also has its charm and the character is undeniably recognizable, in my eyes the REV profile benefits extremely from the long aging and resulting complexity. However, the reference points can also be described as almost unfair for the younger bottlings, especially for proven lovers of the 1994 REVs."
"On the nose leather, slightly charred, caramel, dried fruit, vanilla and a slight sweetness. On the palate, everything that the nose promised can be found again. A beautiful 2006 REV with a well-integrated ABV."
"#4156 This one is also really nice and I could pick up the flavours when opening the sample. Beautiful dark rum with roasted wood without it being too dominant. Fruits and spices tag along some light leather and licorice. Draws beautiful and slow moving curtains in the glass and the empty glass has some vanilla, smoke and herbal notes."
"I like the 2006 REV, but this one does not quite convince me! I lack a little fruit and intensity ! The alcohol is not very well integrated and the barrel impact is already quite pronounced !"
