“An der Nase sind sich die 2006er insgesamt wenig überraschend recht ähnlich. Trockenfrüchte, dezente Würz- und Holznoten - hier ist vielleicht noch die im Direktvergleich deutlichste Karamellnote hervorzuheben. Am Gaumen die obligate Trockenpflaume, deutliche Rauchigkeit, Leder, Lakritz, Holz, erneut karamellige Süsse - im Vergleich zu den anderen 2006ern am rauchigsten. Aromatisch durchaus mit ansprechender Komplexität. Ich bin persönlich nicht der grösste Freund von allzu starker Röst- bzw Raucharomen, wem das aber ebenso zusagt wie das REV-Profil, der dürfte hier auf seine Kosten kommen. Für den Vergleich zu den 1994er Vertretern wiederhole ich meine Eindrücke der anderen 2006er: viel weniger Schwere, die Pflaumennoten treten hier eher im Gespann mit Johannisbeer auf, die dunklen Töne von Holz, Lakritz, Leder und Karamell sind viel weniger ausgeprägt. Ich bin - trotz der aromatischen Komplexität dieser Abfüllung - geneigt von „REV Light" zu sprechen. Das Spektrum der 2006er hat zwar ebenfalls seinen Charme und der Charakter ist unzweifelhaft erkennbar, in meinen Augen profitiert das REV-Profil aber extrem von der langen Lagerung und der daraus resultierenden Komplexität. Die Referenzpunkte sind für die jüngeren Abfüllungen aber auch als fast schon unfair zu bezeichnen, insbesondere für ausgewiesene Liebhaber der 1994er REVs.”

“I love the Versailles REV. When I saw this bottle at RumDeLuxe I was immediately attracted. So when it was on sale a few days later, I was tempted! I'm not disappointed, it's typically the REV profile that I appreciate: the well candied Pruneau, the well demerara cooked sugar, the well dark and greedy wood. I find it very good, for a very good price.”

“#4156 This one is also really nice and I could pick up the flavours when opening the sample. Beautiful dark rum with roasted wood without it being too dominant. Fruits and spices tag along some light leather and licorice. Draws beautiful and slow moving curtains in the glass and the empty glass has some vanilla, smoke and herbal notes.”
