How does this rum taste?
The Ramero Rum Single Cask Riesling is a unique expression from Guyana's Diamond distillery, bottled by Heimat Distillers. Distilled in 2018, it's crafted from molasses using pot and column stills, then aged for four years. Its cask strength ABV of 54.2% delivers a robust flavor. Tasting notes reveal wine and dark chocolate with dry, burnt sugar undertones. The Riesling cask finish introduces distinctive sour and herbal elements. This limited edition release, with only 545 bottles, showcases innovation with its balance of woody and tropical aromatic profiles, but some find it lacks complexity.

Dieser Rum hat ein Riesling-Finish erhalten und bekommt einen ziemlich würzigen Charakter dadurch. Ich stufe ihn als experimentellen Rum ein, der ein mittelgutes Ergebnis darstellt (im Vergleich zum Merlot-Finish). Im Mund ist er zu unausgewogen, trocken und bitter. Insgesamt bin ich ein großer Fan von dieser Methode von Ramero, bei der Guyana-Rum in Whisky- und deutschen Weinfässern gelagert wird. Ich bin sehr gespannt, was da noch kommt.
Überraschend stimmiger single cask aus guyana mit viel Kokos Creme brulee und leichtem Wein Einschlag. Insgesamt hintenraus mir etwas zu weinig und säuerlich, was bei 4 Jahren im Rieslin Fass aber auch Sinn macht. Würde blind auch nicht auf Guyana tippen unbedingt und eher Richtung Barbados Tippen.
Messeverkostung, daher knapper: Stark! Hier spielen die Jungs aus was sie an Fässern haben. In der Nase noch viele Noten von Schokolade und dunkleren Holz wird's geschmacklich dann sehr anders. Die säuerlichen Noten des Rieslingfasses und eine gewisse Pelzigkeit kommen klar raus und man bleibt sehr trocken. Schönes Ding!
