Strange. I can't taste Mauritius, nor the port finish. I can't really identify the base because it is masked by a slightly peaty whisky profile.
Very strange Mauritius rum. Both on the nose and neat I recognize absolutely none of the typical Mauritius aromas. Primarily alcoholic and very whisky-heavy and peaty. It comes across as neutrally distilled rum that has been matured in an islay Scotch cask. I also don't understand what the "port pipe" is all about...
It tastes like a scotch more than a rum
