How does this rum taste?
The HSE XO À La Française is an exceptional limited-edition rum from Martinique with only 900 bottles produced. Distilled in 2016, aged 6 years, and featuring an ABV of 51.6%, it exudes a complex aromatic bouquet of fruits, vanilla, young wood, and spices. On the palate, this agricole rum reveals layers of fruity notes, Demerara sugar, sandalwood, and hints of whiskey, leading to a satisfying hot finish. Many users appreciate its well-integrated alcohol, easy sipping nature and the delightful influence of wood. While some find its price slightly elevated, aficionados praise its craftsmanship and rich flavor profile, making it a sought-after selection for rum enthusiasts.

Fine, palatable easy sipper. More on the slightly woody side than the grassy side. I tasted a pleasant red wine finish where there is none, but that speaks for the rhum. Alcohol very well integrated. Another quality product from HSE, they simply deliver quality at a reliably consistent level with their many releases.
Beautiful, concentrated color! Very varnished nose, like new furniture wood varnish. But the nose evolves as it oxidizes. Finishes now on notes of butter, Breton shortbread. On the other hand, the palate is very whisky and remains whisky 🥃 !
Great XO! Alcohol very well integrated.
Hard to define on the nose at first, then a mixture of fresh fruit, wood and spices. Pepper on the tongue, rather toasty and woody on the palate, then the sugar cane comes through. Long finish, goes into the nose, the pepper remains but does not bite
