“Definitely not a straightforward Navy blend. Impressive complexity, much Jamaican influence, the high age is clearly recognizable. Mint, eucalyptus, tropical fruits, wood, spices...impressive! As a lover of complex rums, I feel perfectly picked up here. Definitely not a standard Navyrum because the heavy Guyana notes are almost entirely underrepresented, but that doesn't change the fact that this is an exquisite release. Chapeau!”

“Krasser Navy Blend! Alkohol top eingebunden, extrem komplex. Für mich vor allem Dominant nach Sauerkirschen, gegrillten Limetten, kräftigen Rum Rosinen, ordentlich ester aus Jamaica aber auch viel dreckige Noten wie von caroni Rums, sowie viel Holz und bitteren Tanninen. Gefällt mir unfassbar gut! Abgang ist schier unendlich...🤤”

“An der Nase kein ‚klassischer‘ Navy blend, er hat wenig gemein mit den Originalen der Royal Navy (oder dem Black Tot Last Consignment). Ist es deswegen ein schlechter Rum? Keineswegs! Für mich erinnert der HQNB sehr stark an EMB 95, gerade an den sehr guten Rumclub Ed. 27. Im Hintergrund auch etwas das mich an Campari oder Bitterorange erinnert. Am Gaumen kommt dann noch einiges aus dem Maschinenraum und altes Eichenfass dazu. Ein schöner, langer Abgang mit viel Fass/Tanninen und leichter Bitterkeit.”

“Wow, what a navy blend! The relatively low Guyana content and the great fruit component (especially sour cherry) with some mint make this blend something special. Slight reminders of cream candy come through. Extremely tasty yet complex. Endless finish. Really fun!”

“Even though this rum has nothing to do with Gardel, its bitter wood notes remind me of the 83 Gardel bottling. In addition, mix in a very complex rum esters from Jamaica, eucalyptus from Guyana and some "dirt" from Trinidad. The alcohol is perfectly integrated, so that one may experience a fantastic taste journey here.”

“Das ist mal ein Blend! Ohne die genaue Zusammensetzung zu kennen, gehe ich davon aus, dass die jeweiligen Reste der zuletzt abgefüllten High Quality Rums den Weg in diese Flasche gefunden haben. Das sagt mir jedenfalls die Nase und der Gaumen! Nase: intensiv, kräftig, rund und wundervoll. Würzig-fruchtig-holzig. Blutorange, Sauerkirsche, schwarze Johannisbeere mit trop. Früchten und süßer Zitrone, daneben aromatisches Holz, Sahnetoffe, Nougat, Lakritze, Vanille und zart Tabak. Gleichzeitig feine Ester, leicht Essig. Eine feine Frische von Minze kommt hinzu. Ganz klar: mind. JAM, TTO & GUY! 93 Gaumen: kräftig, intensiv und ordentlich adstringent zu Beginn. Salzig-bitter, dann gleich intensive Minze. Frische wird unterstrichen durch Limettenschale. Leicht pfeffrig und holzig. 87 Top Rum!”

“Was für eine Abfüllung! Ein Navy-Blend der es in sich hat und gleichzeitig so wenig Navy ist, wie 64,35% sind. Man spürt deutlich das Alter der einzelnen Bestandteile und einen deutlich Schwung Jamaika, der erst von Hampden, dann aber vom EMB dominiert wird. Man mag gar nicht trinken, ob der Komplexität in der Nase, die immer wieder andere Aromen und Hinweise auf die Bestandteile bringt. Traut man sich dann doch, bekommt man auch hier ein wahnsinnig gutes Potpourri an Aromen präsentiert. Einzig allein die etwas starke Eukalyptus-Note, die ich dem EMB zuschreiben würde, ist für meinen Geschmack zu dominant. Dahinter spielt aber das ganze Orchester Vollgas, von fruchtigen Estern bis zu dunklen Noten aus Guyana, dazu ordentlich Holz bei den verschiedenen Jahrgängen. Einzigartig!”

“In der Nase ein toller Mix. Jamaica vorne, dann etwas Guyana. Ich glaube auch einen Hauch Caroni… Fürs Alter kaum Holz. Komplex, Alkohol gut integriert. Im Mund dann Jamaika! Sehr guter Blend. Nase 90, Mund 75, ergibt 83.”

“Not your average navy blend, that’s for sure! Old with some wood but not overpowering or astringent. Heavy on menthol with a lot of complexity where you can discover something else with every sip. Alcohol is very well integrated! Maybe the best navy blend I’ve ever tasted according to my today standards.”

“Toller Blend. Es macht Spaß die verschiedenen Charakterzüge der einzelnen Länder herauszufiltern. Die Verbindung zwischen dem alten Holz und den schönen fruchtigen Jamaikanoten ist toll. Es ist kein easy süffiger Rum aufgrund des hohen Alkoholgehaltes. Eher etwas für einen besonderen Abend. Wenn der hohe Preis nicht wäre würde ich bestimmt über eine Flasche nachdenken :)”
